The Eighth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University (EAH-SYSU) has launched a Big Data Center to drive medical innovation through on-premises AI deployment and multi-source data fusion. The center integrates resources from the hospital's Artificial Intelligence Office and IT Department to create a unified platform for clinical, research, and operational support.

The center is developing a system comprising a data lake, disease-specific databases and AI Applications. The center aims to reduce patient wait times by 15 minutes, boost prescription accuracy by 90%, cut data preparation time from 3 months to 2 weeks, monitor system performance for 500+ concurrent users, and improve resource allocation efficiency by 25%

Jianwen Liang, director of the center, stated that the center will prioritize data lake development and disease database construction. The center will also collaborate with medical institutions across the Greater Bay Area (GBA) to establish cross-hospital data sharing models. Its cloud-edge architecture design and disease database standards have received provincial expert endorsement following comprehensive evaluations of Sun Yat-sen University's other affiliated hospitals.
